Building in Cameroon: your questions answered

Straight answers to the questions we get asked most about architectural design, construction costs, timelines, land assessment, and supervision in Buea, Yaoundé, Limbe, and across Cameroon.

Getting started

There is no single figure, and any construction company that gives you one before seeing your plot and your plans is guessing. Building cost in Cameroon depends on the size of the building, the number of levels, ground conditions, finishing standard, and the materials you choose.

What we can do is give you a realistic, itemised construction cost estimate once we understand your project. That estimate covers materials, labour, and timeline, so you are budgeting from real figures rather than a rough guess. Contact us with your plot details and what you want to build, and we will work it out properly.

Start with a consultation. We look at your plot, discuss what you want to build and your budget, and tell you honestly what is realistic on that piece of land.

From there our architects develop a house plan and architectural design, and our engineers handle the structural side. You approve the design before any construction begins.

Yes. The initial consultation to discuss your project carries no charge and no obligation to proceed. Call us, message us on WhatsApp, or visit our office in Molyko, Buea.

Yes, and it is one of the smartest things you can do before committing money. Plenty of land in Cameroon looks fine at ground level but carries drainage problems, difficult slopes, or access issues that make building far more expensive than expected.

We offer pre-purchase land consulting and drone land surveys, giving you an aerial view of terrain, boundaries, and surrounding structures so you know exactly what you are buying into.

Design & construction

It describes how many levels a building has above the ground floor. G+1 is a ground floor plus one upper level, G+2 is ground plus two, and G+3 is ground plus three.

Building upward is often the most economical way to gain floor area, particularly in Buea where plot prices keep rising. Each additional level increases the structural demands on foundations and columns, which is why multi-storey buildings need proper engineering rather than guesswork on site.

Both. You can engage us for architectural design alone, for full design and construction, or for individual services like supervision, project management, or cost estimation.

Most clients prefer the full service, because keeping design and construction under one team removes the gap where projects usually run into trouble.

Yes. We can review an existing plan, tell you whether it is structurally sound and actually buildable, prepare a cost estimate against it, and take on construction or supervision from there.

A second opinion before you start building is far cheaper than discovering a problem once the foundation is down.

It depends on the size and complexity of the building, the site conditions, and how construction is phased around your budget. A single-storey residential building and a G+3 mixed-use development are very different undertakings.

We give you a realistic timeline as part of your project planning, and we track progress against it. Roughly 95% of our projects are delivered on schedule.

Yes, and it matters more than most people realise. Heavy rainfall in the Southwest Region, high humidity, and salt air along the coast at Limbe all affect how a building should be detailed and which materials will last.

Drainage strategy, roof detailing, and reinforcement protection are designed around local conditions rather than copied from a generic plan.

Supervision & project management

Yes. Independent construction supervision is one of our core services. Our engineers visit the site regularly to check materials, reinforcement, and workmanship against the approved design.

For owners who are not on site daily, this is a practical safeguard on how their money is actually being spent.

A contractor builds. A supervising engineer checks that what is being built matches the design and meets the required standard, using the specified materials in the specified quantities.

Most serious structural problems in buildings trace back to decisions made on site that nobody qualified was there to catch.

Coordinating everything and everyone involved in your build: procurement, labour scheduling, contractor coordination, quality checks, budget tracking, and progress reporting.

You get one point of contact who is accountable for the project moving forward, instead of managing separate parties yourself.

Working with us

Yes. We are based in Buea and work throughout the Southwest and Centre Regions, with completed projects in Yaoundé and Limbe alongside our Buea portfolio. We take on design, supervision, project management, and drone survey work elsewhere in Cameroon on request.

Yes. Building from abroad is exactly the situation where independent supervision and proper project management matter most, because you cannot inspect the site yourself.

We keep clients in the diaspora updated with progress reports, site photography, and drone documentation, so you can see what has actually been built rather than relying on someone's word.

Our own in-house team of engineers, design assistants, and operations staff, led by Eng. Laclong Francis. Design and supervision are not subcontracted out to whoever is available.

You can see the people who will handle your project on our team page.

Yes. Every year we take on interns in architecture, civil engineering, and building technology, giving them hands-on experience on live design work and active construction sites.
